On July 8, 2025, State Secretary for Political Affairs Frano Matušić held a meeting with Muhammad Anis Matta, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia responsible for religious affairs. During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the very good bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed opportunities for further enhancing cooperation. This includes potential high-level visits to Indonesia, such as a visit by Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman, and the organization of a new round of political consultations next year in Zagreb.

Matušić conveyed Croatia’s appreciation for Indonesia’s contribution to the construction of the Islamic Cultural Center in Osijek and emphasized that Croatia has a well-established legal framework for the protection of minorities, including religious minorities. The role of minorities as an important bridge between countries and societies was highlighted.

The investment potential of Croatian ports in Rijeka and Ploče was discussed, along with possibilities for deepening cooperation in the fields of energy, advanced technologies, and the defence and security industry.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on current foreign policy issues, including the regional situation in Asia and Europe, Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, and potential cooperation within international organizations.

As part of the visit to Croatia, Grlić Radman received Matta for a courtesy call.
