On Thursday, August 27, 2015 in Vienna, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić is taking part at the Western Balkans Summit, part of the Berlin Process. Besides participating in the working session on regional cooperation, Minister Pusić will join other foreign ministers in their discussion on the refugee crisis, interreligious dialogue and the fight against extremism.
The Berlin Process was started in 2014 and will continue throughout a five-year period, during which the yearly summits will be used to support the enlargement of the EU to the region of Southeast Europe, i. e. Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. The summit will be attended by past and future organizing countries: Germany as last year's host and Austria as this year's, as well as France, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia, whose delegation will be led by Prime Minister Zoran Milanović.
The emphasis at last year's meeting in Berlin was on regional cooperation and collaboration in the areas of economy and the rule of law. The chief topics of Western Balkans Summit 2015 will be infrastructure and connectivity, regional cooperation, youth and migration. The conference will be divided into three segments: for Prime Ministers, Foreign Ministers and Ministers of Economy. The President and Members of the European Commission as well as the presidents of the international financial institutions are expected to attend the Vienna Summit.
