We extend our congratulations on the great recognition the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) received thanks to its dedicated work in chemical disarmament. The OPCW numbers 189 member states, parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention. Croatia maintains an intensive cooperation with the OPCW through the national Commission and has been recognized as one of the more active parties, approaching the implementation of the Convention in a modern, interdisciplinary way, exchanging information between the academic community and the chemical industry and promoting regional cooperation. In the last 12 months Croatia hosted a regional seminar for customs experts from Eastern Europe and the 12th regional meeting of the party states’ national commissions. Furthermore, Croatian experts from Petrokemija Kutina have participated in the OPCW training programme for developing countries. Inspection has been successfully carried out in September 2013 as part of the OSCW verification regime, with support from the National Commission. In May 2013 Croatia ended its two-year membership in the OPCW Executive Council.
