Visa regime

From the day it enters the EU, Croatia is obliged to implement its visa regime so the Croatian government will launch the procedure to put out of effect the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Visa Cancellation.

However, since Bosnia and Herzegovina falls into the category of countries whose citizens do not need a visa to enter the EU member states if they have biometric passports, Croatia as of 1 July will also not require visas for BiH citizens, holders of biometric passports.

Given the length of Croatia-BiH border as well as Croatia’s interest in good relations with BiH, Croatia has submitted a proposal to the Council that after Croatia becomes a full-fledged member, BiH citizens could still be allowed to enter Croatia with ID cards.

Also, a new Contract on border crossing points between Croatia and BiH will be signed as well as a new Agreement on local border traffic which should make life easier for citizens living in the border area, in accordance with the EU regulations.
