UNGA 78 begins

On the sidelines of the 78th UN General Assembly meeting, Minister Grlić Radman held trilateral talks with his Italian and Slovenian counterparts, Antonio Tajani and Tanja Fajon, along with colleagues from the Western Balkans.
 
Grlić Radman underscored Croatia’s strong support for the EU enlargement to the Western Balkans, which reflects commitment to the strengthening of stability and integration in the region, promoting democracy and the rule of law, and creating sustainable economic prospects for the Western Balkan countries.
 
“Croatia continues to provide political support and share its experiences and expertise. The EU now understands, especially in light of the new geopolitical circumstances brought on by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, that something has to be done to make the enlargement process more efficient,” the minister said. He underscored that the only way forward was to meet the criteria and implement the necessary reforms, as well as full commitment to EU values, which includes alignment with the decisions and views of the Common Foreign and Security Policy.
 
On the margins of UNGA, Croatia signed agreements on the establishment of diplomatic relations with Togo and the Central African Republic.
 
In addition, Grlić Radman attended an informal meeting of the EU member states’ foreign ministers and held a series of bilateral talks with his counterparts from Ecuador, Palestine, Togo and the Central African Republic.
