Today, 11 March 2004, in Portorož, Slovenia, the 2nd trilateral meeting was held between State Secretary to the Croatian MFA Hido Biščević, State Secretary at the Slovenian MFA Andrej Logar and State Under Secretary at the Italian MFA Roberto Antonione
The talks confirmed a common interest for finding optimal solutions as soon as possible for the protection of the North Adriatic through co-operation between the three countries and maintaining the EU standards. The meeting considered Slovenia’s proposal for establishing a joint ecological-fishing zone, Croatia’s proposal to reactivate the existing trilateral commission and forum, and other ideas as well. Croatia expressed its readiness to start the negotiations with the EU regarding the fishing agreement. Economic co-operation in major infrastructural in this part of Europe was also discussed. It was concluded that the continuation of the high-level talks will stimulate the overall improvement of co-operation.
The next round of talks will be hosted by Croatia. The meeting is to held in Pula by mid-April.
