Third year of “A healthy child today – a driver of development tomorrow” project

First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusić received today nine Palestinian children who arrived in Croatia on 28 August

First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusić received today nine Palestinian children who arrived in Croatia on 28 August accompanied by a two-member medical team and have been treated for respiratory diseases at the Thalassotherapia hospital in Crikvenica.

This year again, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has been implementing a project for the rehabilitation of Palestinian children with breathing difficulties titled “A healthy child today – a driver of development tomorrow”.  The project was launched three years ago and is part of development cooperation between Croatia and the Palestinian National Authority. Pusić said she was pleased with the project and that it would continue the following year. The project has also resulted in potential cooperation in procuring inhalers for medical centres in Palestine, additional training and transfer of know-how by Croatian physicians at the West Bank hospitals as well as scholarships for two children, participants in a high education project in Croatia.

Next year, a medical rehabilitation project is planned for a new group of Palestinian children, including for the first time children from Gaza, who will possibly be accompanied by Palestinian physicians specialising in respiratory diseases.
