The Resolution No. 54/2003 on the establishment of the Parliamentary Group Brazil - Croatia was adopted at the plenary session of the Federal Congress of the Federal Republic of Brazil, held on 13 November 2003. The resolution was proposed by Mr. Francisco Turra, federal representative and former Brazilian Minister of Agriculture, who will also chair this Parliamentary Group.

The establishment of this important political body is the result of intensive activities of the Croatian Embassy in Brasilia aimed at the advancement of bilateral political relations between the two countries. The initiative for this began in April this year by the Croatian Embassy by presenting the Republic of Croatia to federal representatives and senators of the Brazilian Congress. Owing to the enthusiasm and efficiency of Mr. Francisco Turra and his assistant Mr. Osmara Lopers de Moraes, the proposal was adopted in a very short time.

The establishment of this body with the Federal Congress of the Federal Republic of Brazil has a great importance for the Republic of Croatia considering the role of the Congress in the creation of Brazilian foreign policy.
