The Republic of Croatia is greatly concerned and embittered at the latest wave of violence in Iraq, which culminated with last week terrorist attack in Najaf, the holy city of the Iraqi Shiites, which occurred only ten days after the horrid attack at the Baghdad seat of the UN Mission.
The Republic of Croatia supports the efforts of the Iraqi people and the international community to establish stable, secure and democratic Iraq. Perfidious terrorist attack in Najaf once again has showed that extremists do not choose means to undermine these efforts. The Republic of Croatia strongly condemns the attack in Najaf, and expresses sympathy to the families of innocent victims. The Republic of Croatia expects that all necessary measures will be undertaken to bring perpetrators of crime in Najaf to justice.
