State Secretary Pejčinović Burić spoke at conference Croatian Economy’s Preparation for the EU

State Secretary for European Integration at MFAEI Marija Pejčinović Burić held a speech at the conference entitled Croatian Economy’s Preparation for the EU, held at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, 8 May 2006

State Secretary Pejčinović Burić pointed out that Croatia’s EU negotiations will also include changes in the financial and legal environment, and will provide additional impetus to the Croatian economy’s transformation towards safer, more independent conditions, higher entrepreneurial activity and higher foreign investment.

In addition, State Secretary Pejčinović Burić said that achieving the economy’s competitiveness also requires a competitive work force, which forces us to acquire new knowledges, expertise and abilities, and modernise them throughout our life-long education.

State Secretary Pejčinović Burić also pointed out that Croatia is acting in accordance with the goals of the Lisbon Strategy, which entail the realisation of a long-term economic growth, increasing competitiveness, and creating new and better job opportunities, i. e. the development of Europe as the most competitive of economies, based on knowledge.
