State Secretary Pejčinović Burić held regular consultations with representatives of Poland’s state authority

State Secretary for European Integration Marija Pejčinović Burić held regular consultations 6 November 2006 with the representatives of the Republic of Poland’s state authority

In separate meetings, State Secretary Pejčinović Burić was received by the State Secretary at the Office for European Integration of the Polish Government, Ewa Ośniecka-Tamecka, State Undersecretary at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Witold Sobków, and State Undersecretary at the Ministry for Regional Development Jerzy Kwieciński.

The meeting with State Secretary Ośniecka-Tamecka exchanged Poland’s experiences in the EU accession process, with special reference to the EU membership negotiations and the using of the pre-accession assistance programs. State Secretary Ośniecka-Tamecka expressed support for Croatia in its process of EU accession and offered assistance in the form of exchanging experiences in membership negotiations. In that regard, it was agreed that the areas of co-operation within the Croatian-Polish Action Plan for Promotion Croatia’s EU Integration should be more closely defined, after which its implementation will ensue.

During the meeting with State Undersecretary Sobków, the two discussed the possibilities of further developing the bilateral co-operation, the processes concerning the EU and NATO, and the current events in the South-Eastern Europe. State Secretary Pejčinović Burić informed him about Croatia’s co-operation with the neighbours and countries in the region, as well as the fulfilment of the political criteria. Expressing the continuation of the support for Croatia’s EU accession process, the Polish side pointed out that Croatia has done a lot as for the reforms, and that Croatia’s EU membership, as far as Poland is concerned, is unquestionable.

During the meeting with State Undersecretary Kwieciński, who presented to State Secretary Pejčinović Burić the Polish system of co-ordinating the structural and cohesion fund of the EU pre-accession assistance and Poland’s experiences in that area so far, the Polish side expressed readiness to transfer to Croatia its experiences in setting up of the necessary structures for the implementation of the assistance programs and using the EU funds.
