State Secretary for European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić 11 May 2017 in Brussels attended a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in the trade configuration.

The meeting discussed the new anti-dumping methodology aimed at keeping the current trade protection system efficient and WTO compatible. The Council also took stock of the temporary trade measures for Ukraine, which Croatia supports as it believes they could help alleviate the current situation in the country.

Also discussed were developments and prospects for the 11^th WTO ministerial conference, to be held in Buenos Aires in December 2017, as well as ways to improve effective implementation of free trade agreements with third countries, which are one of the more important trade policy instruments aimed at stimulating economic growth and employment. The Council discussed developments in trade negotiations with Japan, Mercosur and Mexico, talks on investment protection with Burma/Myanmar, as well as the possible launch of free trade negotiations with Australian, Chile and New Zealand. The Commission presented a reflection paper on harnessing globalisation, published as part of the follow-up to its 2017 white paper on the future of Europe.
