State Secretary Metelko-Zgombić participates in high-level roundtable on anti-corruption
Along with Dutch Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra, Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Juan Carlos Holguín Maldonado and Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly, the round table also gathered ministers/state secretaries from Bulgaria, Romania, North Macedonia, Norway, Georgia, Senegal, Zambia, Timor-Leste, Singapore and the U.S.
The discussion focused on the most serious form of corruption, the “grand corruption” – high-profile, high-scale corruption involving abuse of power, which thrives in the international environment. The participants welcomed the opportunity to exchange ideas and best practices on how to advance joint efforts in the fight against corruption and identify future guiding principles. This includes promoting the culture of responsibility and transparency, improving existing frameworks, strengthening international cooperation, exchanging information, monitoring the implementation, as well as capacity building, technical support, and involving all the relevant stakeholders in the process.
Addressing the event, Metelko-Zgombić underscored that Croatia would continue to participate actively in the international activities of preventing and combating corruption on all levels.
