State Secretary for Europe Andreja Metelko-Zgombić on Tuesday met with the British Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for European Neighbourhood and the Americas, Wendy Morton

State Secretary for Europe Andreja Metelko-Zgombić on Tuesday met with the British Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for European Neighbourhood and the Americas, Wendy Morton.

The two officials underscored very good bilateral relations, stressing the need for their additional strengthening, notably in economy, as well as for intensifying bilateral dialogue at the highest level over the marking of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations the following year.  

In the context of the COP 26 climate conference held this year in Glasgow, Metelko-Zgombić and Morton underlined the importance of inclusivity and setting ambitious climate goals, as well as of implementing climate policies within the context of post-pandemic economic recovery.

Concerning the upcoming tourist season, it was stressed that British tourists would be able to stay safely in Croatia thanks to the extant epidemiological measures. The two officials also confirmed their countries’ cooperation in sharing epidemiological information.

Of the other topical matters, Metelko-Zgombić and Morton discussed the EU-UK relations and support for Southeast European countries in implementing reforms along their European path.
