State Secretary for European Affairs Andreja Metelko-Zgombić 2 October 2019 in Stockholm held consultations with the Director-General for EU Affairs at the Swedish Prime Minister’s Office, Eva Sjögren. The two officials discussed the current EU topics and the priorities of Croatia’s Council of the EU chairmanship.
Metelko-Zgombić underlined as priorities the initiatives and measures for a Europe that’s growing – equally, sustainably and inclusively, a Europe that connects, protects its citizens and is assertive in its neighbourhood and globally. She stressed the importance of keeping the open door policy and maintaining the European perspective in the southeast.
The state secretary also informed the Swedish DG about the status of Croatia’s Schengen Area accession.
Sjögren expressed support for Croatia and congratulated on the preparations for its first Council of the EU chairmanship, offering continued cooperation and exchange of experiences.
The two officials also exchanged views on other EU matters – Brexit, MFF, migrations, the rule of law and the future of Europe.
