State Secretary for European Affairs Andreja Metelko-Zgombić 27 February 2019 in Budapest held bilateral consultations with State Secretary at the Hungarian Prime Minister’s Office Szabolcs Takács.

The two officials exchanged views on the topical EU issues: multiannual financial framework, Brexit, migrations, upcoming parliamentary elections, new institutional cycle and situation in Southeast Europe, notably in the context of Croatia’s future Council of the EU presidency.

Metelko-Zgombić and Takács agreed on the importance of keeping the enlargement door open, especially in regard to North Macedonia and Albania. The Croatian state secretary informed her Hungarian counterpart about Croatia’s preparations for Council of the EU chairmanship as well as joining the Schengen Area and eurozone.
