On 8 September 2025, in Ankara, State Secretary for Political Affairs Frano Matušić held political consultations with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Mehmet Kemal Bozay.

The consultations reaffirmed the very good and dynamic relations between Croatia and Türkiye, marked by the frequency of high-level contacts and reciprocal visits. Matušić welcomed Türkiye’s decision this year to become a strategic partner of the Three Seas Initiative.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the development of economic cooperation and with ongoing joint projects involving Croatian and Turkish companies. Energy, transport and infrastructure cooperation - with particular emphasis on ports - as well as the defence industry, were identified as priority areas for further advancement of bilateral economic relations, strengthening of business-to-business contacts, and mutual investment promotion.

On the margins of the consultations, Matušić also met with Sabri Demir, Chief Advisor and Special Envoy for the Balkans to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Matušić emphasized that the stability of the Western Balkans constitutes a shared strategic interest of both Croatia and Türkiye.
