State Secretary Marija Pejčinović Burić participated in the roundtable Germany and Croatia in the process of European unification – public diplomacy and nation image

State Secretary for European Integration Marija Pejčinović Burić participated in the roundtable Germany and Croatia in the process of European unification – public diplomacy and nation image, organized by the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and Hanns Seidel Foundation on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Hanns Seidel Foundation’s activities in Croatia. The round table was held at the Goethe Institute in Zagreb today, 4th of December 2006

State Secretary Pejčinović Burić gave a speech on Croatian public diplomacy in the process of European integration. She congratulated the Hanns Seidel Foundation on a decade of successful work and expressed her belief that the collaboration between the Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration will continue.

State Secretary Pejčinović Burić said that the Republic of Croatia should be underlined as a serious and resolute candidate for full EU membership, a candidate which respects its obligations. Mentioning the contribution of the Republic of Croatia to stabilizing the region, State Secretary said that Croatian contribution to peace and democracy, the fundamental values of the European Union, should also be emphasised.

State Secretary briefly introduced several cultural projects which are relevant in the context of Croatian public diplomacy in the process of European integration and announced the inauguration of an economic diplomacy website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. State Secretary Pejčinović Burić also presented the Foreign Communication Strategy Project which is being prepared in order to connect all public diplomacy efforts up to now as well as define the activity priorities in the upcoming period and group all relevant factors in that area.
