State Secretary Maja Vrtarić handed out tuition fee contracts for Croaticum/Croatica attendees

In her speech, State Secretary Vrtarić expressed satisfaction with the growing interest among the offspring of Croatian expatriates to learn more about the country their ancestors had to leave, as well as to tie their own destiny with Croatia. Pointing out that the wish to learn the Croatian language and the love of homeland are the foundations for building the modern society we aspire to, State Secretary Vrtarić expressed her conviction that these attendees too will contribute to the further development of Croatia with their knowledge and professionalism, and serve as its best ambassadors abroad.

Thirty-two contracts for the 2008 winter semester of the 1st level course were handed today. In 2008, the Ministry covered tuition fees for 155 attendees. Since the program’s inception, the Ministry has financed over 350 attendees.

The course is attended by students from various countries with Croatian expatriation and is being held at the Zagreb University’s Faculty of Arts – Croaticum, and the Split University’s Faculty of Arts – Croatica”. The Ministry, pursuant to the Rulebook on Financing Croatian Language Learning for Croats Abroad, covers the tuition fee for two semesters.
