State Secretary for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Zdenko Lucić on Tuesday attended a conference on socially responsible business (SRB) named “Responsible Today, Sustainable Tomorrow”, co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, and the OECD.

The conference brought together representatives of state administration and the private sector, who reflected on the challenges and opportunities of SRB. The OECD representatives informed the participants about the Organization’s Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises as well as in-depth analyses and recommendations.

Lucić underscored that SRB was an increasingly important factor in society and business relations. He commended the activities of the National Contact Point, which is contributing to resolving the issues pertaining to the implementation of Guidelines.

He informed the participants about the status of Croatia-OECD relations. In January this year, Croatia was invited to open the negotiations, precisely five years after it had submitted a letter of intent to join the OECD.

“Croatia’s OECD membership is one of the priorities of our foreign policy. We remain committed to the accession process and the reforms to the benefit of all citizens, with a view to improving the quality of life and stimulating the business environment,” the minister said.
