State Secretary Kuprešak and Norwegian Ambassador Walaas signed Memorandum of Understanding between Norwegian MFA and Croatian MFAEI regarding 2006 Bilateral Assistance Program

State Secretary for Organisation, Development and Management Željko Kuprešak and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Croatia Elisabeth Walaas signed 20 November 2006 at the Croatian MFAEI, Zagreb, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration regarding the 2006 Bilateral Assistance Program

The Memorandum will realise Norway’s bilateral assistance program for Croatia worth 30 million kronen through non-repayable funds for projects defined in accordance with Croatia’s priorities, and related to the Euro-Atlantic integration accession.

Said program will realise this year seven projects concerning the support for sectors in the EU accession process, promotion of democratic institutions, justice reform, reconstruction of the war-damaged institutions and infrastructure, and support for the sustainable economic and social development, with the aim of harmonising the development of all areas of the Republic of Croatia.

The Norwegian Government is continuously, through various forms of assistance, supporting the co-operation with Croatia, and this Memorandum is merely a result of that co-operation, as well as the excellent bilateral relations, said State Secretary Kuprešak.

Confirming the continuity of the successful co-operation between Norway and Croatia by signing the Memorandum, Ambassador Walaas said that the goal of Norway’s assistance program for Croatia is to support primarily Croatia’s efforts aimed at achieving full EU and NATO membership.
