State Secretary Hido Biščević received Russian Ambassador to Croatia Mihail Konarovski
State Secretary for Political Affairs Hido Biščević received on 15 November 2007 the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Croatia, Mihail Konarovski, informing him that the Croatian Interpol Office renewed yesterday the demand for the determination of the facts regarding Veljko Kadijević’s stay in Russia, as well as his extradition based on the international arrest warrant. He also informed him that State Attorney Mladen Bajić has sent a letter to the Russian Prosecution, asking of it to get involved in the case as well
State Secretary Biščević and Ambassador Konarovski also reviewed the relations between the two countries, positively evaluating the importance of a stable, open and constructive dialogue between Moscow and Zagreb, from the position of influencing the events in South Eastern Europe, as well as a wider European context. The two especially pointed out the economic co-operation’s great potential, which is to be discussed at the forthcoming preparatory meeting of the Mixed Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Co-operation. Ambassador Konarovski communicated the Russian companies’ interest to engage in energy and large-scale infrastructural projects in Croatia.
Ambassador Konarovski relayed congratulations on Croatia’s election to non-permanent Security Council membership. Both sides agreed that the current state of affairs in South Eastern Europe, especially in light of the Kosovo negotiations, as well as the development policy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, require full political responsibility, balance and constructiveness on the part of all involved, both in the region and on the international scene.
