State Secretary Hido Biščević received Deputy Assistant Secretary in State Department’s European and Eurasian Affairs Bureau Rosemary DiCarlo
State Secretary for Political Affairs Hido Biščević received on 11 October 2007 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European integration the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the US State Department’s Bureau for European and Eurasian Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo
Deputy Assistant Secretary DiCarlo pointed out Croatia’s role by which it, through its activities within SEECP and the US-Adriatic Charter, positively influences the overall situation in the region. In that light, the two especially pointed out the importance of extending the negotiation process on the Kosovo status under the Troika leadership and with a direct participation of Belgrade and Pristina, as well as the need for a temperate and balanced approach in this sensitive stage of the negotiations. State Secretary Biščević and Deputy Assistant Secretary DiCarlo emphasised that the solution has to serve the strengthening of the stability in South Eastern Europe, agreeing that one of the key factors in that is a joint position of the international community.
State Secretary Biščević informed Ms. DiCarlo about Croatia’s most recent activities in the field of refugee return and justice reform within the OSCE Mission’s mandate, as well as bilateral relations with the neighbouring countries.
State Secretary Biščević also reported on the dynamics of establishing the Regional Co-operation Council’s Secretariat and his assuming of the duty of its Secretary General.
