State Secretary for Political Affairs Hido Biščević received today, 30 August 2005, at the MFAEI, to an inaugural visit the newly-appointed and first residential ambassador of the State of Israel to the Republic of Croatia, Shmuel Meirom, who handed the copies of his credentials

Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the highly developed relations between the two countries and commented on the successful visit by the Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader to the State of Israel in June this year. State Secretary Biščević expressed his satisfaction with Croatia being the first ex-SFRY country in which Israel decided to open its embassy, and both sides agreed that that will contribute to the further improvement of the co-operation between the two countries, especially in the field of economy and science, as well as the battle against terrorism and organised crime.
