State Secretary Hido Biščević received Army Chief-of-Staff James L. Jones

State Secretary for Political Affairs at the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry Hido Biščević received on July 25, 2005, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) Army Chief-of-Staff James L. Jones, who is leading the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) delegation during a working visit to the Republic of Croatia

The meeting discussed Croatia's NATO accession process and related reforms of the defence sector. Some of the current safety and political issues in the world were taken into consideration, as well as the Republic of Croatia’s contribution to the international community's efforts made in fighting terrorism and keeping stabile the situation in Afghanistan. The Croatian view of the situation in South-Eastern Europe was presented to General Jones, emphasising the importance of clear and confirmed Euro-Atlantic prospects of all countries in the region. General Jones commended Croatia's considerable progress in reforming the armed forces and its contribution to NATO's mission of keeping the situation in Afghanistan stabile.
