Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1997, there have been no official delegation exchanges, so this meeting represents the first official visit, as well as the first political consultations between the two countries. The two state secretaries signed the Protocol between the Two Ministries of Foreign Affairs on Bilateral Consultations.

These first official talks were used to exchange information on the state of affairs in the region, multilateral issues, and crisis spots, with an emphasis on finding the ways to improve the bilateral cooperation, especially in economy.

The collocutors agreed on completing the harmonization of economic agreements by the end of the year, which would serve as the basis for further cooperation. They also initiated the cooperation between the chambers of economy and suggested that the two countries’ businessmen should meet and through direct contact find the areas of bilateral cooperation to mutual benefit.

The Republic of Croatia was once again invited to participate as observer in this year’s Asian Art Biennale, as well as in the commemoration of the birth and death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore next year.
