State Secretary Bušić meets with FRA Director Michael O'Flaherty

State Secretary for Political Affairs Zdravka Bušić received a delegation of the European Union Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA), headed by Director Michael O'Flaherty

State Secretary for Political Affairs Zdravka Bušić received a delegation of the European Union Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA), headed by Director Michael O'Flaherty, on the occasion of Croatia’s upcoming Council of the EU presidency. O'Flaherty is visiting Croatia in order to set up cooperation of Croatia’s relevant institutions and organizations with FRA during the presidency period.

Bušić underlined Croatia’s commitment to the promotion of human rights and fundamental freedoms, both within the EU and internationally. The officials discussed prospects of cooperation in said area during the presidency, highlighting the importance of Croatia’s membership in UNHRC and the experience gained during CoE Council of the Ministers chairmanship. O'Flaherty presented FRA’s activities, saying that the Agency offered assistance to institutions and governments of the EU member states in implementing the EU law in the area of fundamental human rights. The FRA deals in particular with the issues of discrimination, racism and xenophobia, immigration, data protection, hate crimes, protection of vulnerable groups and access to justice.
