State Secretary for Political Affairs Zdravka Bušić 2-4 July 2019 in Toronto attended the third Ukraine Reform Conference, co-chaired by Canada and Ukraine.

The first day of the conference saw a ministerial meeting discussing the consolidation of the results achieved thus far in implementing democratic reforms in Ukraine, continuation of the reform processes, affirming Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as offering support to Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations. The participants also talked about cooperating with the civil society and private sector in the strengthening of transparency and responsibility. Along with ministers, state secretaries and other high officials from 37 EU member states and eight international organizations, addresses were delivered by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Addressing the meeting, Bušić underlined Croatia’s support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. She applauded the country’s commitment to European and Euro-Atlantic values, stressing the importance of maintaining the positive momentum in reform implementation. She also underlined the success of the Croatia-Ukraine Cooperation Working Group.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Bušić held talks with the state secretary at Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jens Frølich Holte.

The other two days, at the Ukraine House in Toronto, saw the continuation of discussions on the activities of the private sector and civil society, as well as linking Ukraine’s relevant bodies with international partners. Presentations were also held on Ukraine’s achievements in various areas and its investment opportunities.
