State Secretary Biščević participated in meeting of Stability Pact’s Regional Table for SEE

State Secretary for Political Affairs Hido Biščević participated in the meeting of the Stability Pact’s Regional Table for South Eastern Europe, held 16 November 2006 in Bucharest, Romania

The meeting commended the progress of SEE countries towards the EU and pointed out the importance of regional co-operation within the context of the Euro-Atlantic integration enlargement. It discussed in particular the further transformation of the Stability Pact into the Regional Co-operation Council (RCC), rationalisation of the Pact’s existing initiatives, and further strengthening of SEECP as an authentic SEE co-operation forum.

At the margins of the Regional Table, as a part of Croatia’s SEECP presidency, a meeting of SEECP political directors was held that confirmed the firm dedication of SEECP countries to further intensive consultations in the relations between the future RCC and SEECP. In that regard, an informal meeting between SEECP countries’ foreign ministers was arranged.

The results of the ensuing debates will be adopted at the next Regional Table, to be held concurrently with the SEECP Summit in May/June 2007 in Zagreb.
