State Secretary Biščević met with ODIHR Director
State Secretary for Political Affairs Hido Biščević met 30 June 2006 at the MFAEI with the Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), Ambassador Christian Strohal
Both pointed out Croatia’s progress in the setting up and respect of the democratic values and principles, and in the respect and protection of human rights. State Secretary Biščević stressed that Croatia places special importance on that issue, as evidenced by the large number of international organizations, conferences and projects on human rights in which Croatia is taking active part.
In that regard, Ambassador Strohal commended Croatia’s readiness to host the implementation meeting on tolerance entitled Education to Promote Mutual Respect and Understanding, Including Remembrance of the Holocaust, to be held October 2006 in Dubrovnik.
The two also exchanged opinions on the current situation of the relations in the South Eastern Europe, with State Secretary Biščević pointing out that Croatia is prepared to actively participate and aid though its experience the SEE countries in setting up peace and stability.
