State Secretary Biščević headed Croatian delegation at meeting of Quadrilateral’s state secretaries
State Secretary for Political Affairs Hido Biščević headed the Croatian delegation at the meeting of the Quadrilateral’s state secretaries, held 2 October 2006 in Rome, on the occasion of concluding the Italian presidency. On that occasion, Croatia assumed the presidency for the next one-year period
The members took the opportunity to reiterate their support for and offered assistance to Croatia on its way to a full EU and NATO membership.
State Secretary Biščević presented the framework program of Croatia’s presidency over the Quadrilateral, emphasising that during its presidency, Croatia wants to solidify the co-operation with its neighbours and regional partners by realising in practice the co-operation in the spirit of the Euro-Atlantic integration. As its priorities, State Secretary Biščević stated the political dialogue and co-operation within the context of the EU and NATO, co-operation in security and defence with the aim of Croatia’s joining in full the Multinational Military Unit of the Quadrilateral, seated in Udine, as well as the economic co-operation with an emphasis on infrastructure, transport, environmental protection, and development of small and medium enterprises.
State Secretary Biščević concluded his presentation by pointing out that Croatia’s presidency over the Quadrilateral concurs with its SEECP presidency, which means a great responsibility for Croatia, but also testifies to its extremely important role in this part of Europe.
