State secretaries Pejčinović Burić and Biščević received to inaugural visit Swedish Ambassador to Croatia Lars Fredén

State Secretary for European Integration Marija Pejčinović Burić and State Secretary for Political Affairs Hido Biščević received 13 November 2006 to inaugural visit the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Croatia, Lars Fredén

During the meeting with State Secretary Pejčinović Burić, Ambassador Fredén communicated Sweden’s support for Croatia’s Euro-Atlantic integration process and EU membership. Secretary Pejčinović Burić presented to Ambassador Fredén Croatia’s basic foreign policy goals – acceding to the EU and NATO. In that regard, she explained in detail Croatia’s negotiations structure fro EU accession.

Talking about the current events in the EU negotiations process, Secretary Pejčinović Burić expressed her satisfaction with the Progress Report, since it notes the progress made in the last period and gives guidelines for future activities.

During the meeting with State Secretary Biščević, both sides expressed satisfaction with the good relations between Croatia and Sweden, as well as the possibility of their further intensification, since as soon as 14 November 2006 Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt will officially visit Croatia.

State Secretary Biščević and Ambassador Fredén exchanged opinions about the situation in South Eastern Europe, as well as the recent achievements and pending challenges of Croatia’s EU and NATO accession. State Secretary Biščević informed Ambassador Fredén about the forthcoming activities concerning Croatia’s SEECP presidency, lasting until May 2007.
