Round table on the position of the Croatian ethnic minorities, in terms of international law, in the new European context
The round table was attended by the President of the Democratic Union of Croats in Vojvodina, Tomislav Žigmanov, the President of the Croatian Civic Initiative in Montenegro, Adrijan Vuksanović, the special advisor for the issues of the Croatian ethnic minorities abroad employed with the Central State Office for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia, Milan Bošnjak, MFAE advisor Vanda Babić-Galić, the Chairman of the Council of the Government of the Republic of Croatia for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia, Ivan Gugan, and moderated by MFAE adviser Jasmina Kovačević-Čavlović.
The talks with the participants took place within the following thematic frameworks: the current legal status and the actual position of the Croatian ethnic minorities, the application of European standards for minority protection - examples of good practices and of violations of minority rights, support by the state of origin and the domicile states of the Croatian ethnic minorities, and the prospects for the survival of Croatian minority communities in European countries.
A strategic goal of the Government of the Republic of Croatia is continuous support for the Croatian ethnic minorities worldwide, as well as preserving their national identity and strengthening the unity of all Croats both at home and abroad.
