As part of preparations for Croatia’s presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2020, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs 15 may 2018 organized a round table on the presidency process, opened by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Marija Pejčinović Burić. The participants included high representatives of the Council’s General Secretariat, France, Estonia, Romania, Finland and Croatia.

The round table enabled the Croatian civil servants participating in the preparations for Croatia’s chairmanship a detail insight into the required know-how and offered them recommendations on how to perform the challenging task of presidency, which entails coordinating key European processes as well as the ability to reconcile the often diverging views among the member states on important issues. The round table, held entirely in French, was organized in cooperation with the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF).
