Presided over by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Croatia to the UN Office in Geneva, Ambassador Gordan Markotić, at the Palace of Nations, 8 March 2004, began the 7th session of the government experts from the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe signatory countries
During the week, experts from 92 signatory countries will discuss the issue of mines and other explosive devices left after the war. The aim of the session is to implement the basic principles of international humanitarian law and the introduction of higher standards in the production of various types of ammunition to reduce civilian and other casualties of war and military operations. The session will gather the proposals on the continuation of activities regarding the mines other than anti-personnel.
Croatian Ambassador Gordan Markotić will preside over two more sessions during 2004 of experts from the countries signatories of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe.
