Regular political consultations held between delegations of Croatian MFAEI and Macedonian MFA

On Monday, 27 March 2006, at the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, regular political consultations were held between the delegation of the Croatian MFAEI and delegation of the Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

In the continuation of the consultations, State Secretary for Political Affairs Hido Biščević pointed out the exemplary political and economic co-operation, and both sides expressed satisfaction with the results so far in approaching the Euro-Atlantic integrations, especially in light of the more advanced stages of the two countries’ approaching the EU.

As regards approaching NATO, the two sides stressed the existing co-operation in reforms, through the activities within the US-Adriatic Charter, as well as the joint participation in the Afghanistan peace-keeping mission and other initiatives. The two delegations agreed that the pending NATO summit in Riga should send a clear signal as regards the two countries’ membership perspective.

Also considered were the situation and the perspectives in South East Europe in view of the forthcoming CEFTA meeting in Bucharest and the imminent Croatian presidency over SEECP.
