Regarding a statement by Jožef Jerovšek, Chair of the Slovenian Parliament’s Foreign Policy Committee, in which he comments on the exchange of opinions between the two sides on the unresolved issues between Croatia and Slovenia, namely the Ljubljanska Banka’s debt to the Croatian depositors, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration would like to reiterate that the Slovenian side was clearly told that this is a matter of the private-legal relations between the bank and its individual depositors.

The Republic of Croatia considers unacceptable the Slovenian side’s attempts, displayed even before, to make this matter a part of the negotiations on the former country’s succession.

The Slovenian side is also well familiar with Croatia’s position that the Ljubljanska Banka has to pay its debts to the Croatian depositors and that this is a matter of respecting the rule of law, which the Republic of Croatia advocates.
