Pusić briefed Aïouaze on the topics of this year’s Croatia Summit, scheduled to deal with putting to use Croatia’s accession experience in building modern state and institutions. In accordance with the policy towards the Mediterranean countries and the Southern Neighbourhood, Algerian president and foreign minister were invited to attend the summit, intended as a platform for the exchange of opinions and experiences in building institutions and strengthening the democratic society.

The Algerian ambassador pointed out the upswing in the bilateral relations in 2010, when President of the Algerian Senate Abdelkader Bensalah, as a personal envoy of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, attended the inauguration of President Ivo Josipović, and when Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci visited Croatia.

She expressed hope that in 2012 bilateral visits would intensify again with Pusić’s return visit to Algeria and political consultations.

Ambassador Aïouaze underlined Algeria’s political significance among the Mediterranean countries, with both sides voicing willingness to translate political cooperation into concrete projects of interest to both Croatia and Algeria.
