Pusić paid working visit to Austria

She met in Vienna with the Vice-Chancellor and Minister of European and International Affairs, Michael Spindelleger.

The two officials confirmed the excellent and friendly relations between Croatia and Austria, and Pusić once again thanked Austria for its support to Croatia on its path towards EU membership. Spindelleger said Austria would continue supporting Croatia when it joined the European Union but will continue to support it, vowing that Austria would ratify Croatia's EU Accession Treaty before its parliament's summer recess.

Discussing the situation in the region, both sides reiterated their advocacy of the EU accession of the other countries in the region as well and expressed willingness to transfer their countries’ accession experience.

The talks also addressed the preservation of the rights of the Burgenland Croats and Spindelegger said they should be preserved. Both sides agreed that the Burgenland Croats are an important link between Croatia and Austria.

Pusić also held talks with Austrian President Heinz Fischer, President of the National Council of the Austrian Parliament Barbara Prammer, and Second President of the National Council and Chairman of the EU Affairs Committee Fritz Neugebauer.

During her stay in Vienna, Minister Pusić also met with representatives of the Burgenland Croats and visited the Croatian Center.
