Pusić met with Slovenian parliamentarians

Pusić and members of the Slovenian delegation expressed satisfaction with the two countries' excellent relations and the attained level of mutual trust

Pusić and members of the Slovenian delegation expressed satisfaction with the excellent relations between the two countries and the attained level of mutual trust, voicing hope that the trend would continue. They also said they were pleased with the cooperation on all political levels, as well as the cooperation between the two parliaments’ foreign affairs committees.

In light of Croatia’s pending EU entry, both sides expressed confidence that the cooperation would continue to intensify, notably in the transfer of experience from the transition and EU accession process to other Southeast European countries.

Pusić expressed hope that Croatia's EU Accession Treaty would be ratified by the Slovenian parliament as soon as possible, adding that the act would be important not only for Croatia but also for other countries in the region, as a message of encouragement for their Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

Both sides agreed that the beginning of implementation of the border arbitration agreement and the agreement on the appointment of arbitration judges was yet another example that bilateral talks can result in mutually acceptable solutions, which is something Croatia and Slovenia will continue to pursue in the future.

The meeting also discussed the visit by Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec to Croatia scheduled for 19 March, to be hosted by Minister Pusić.

Discussing economic cooperation, Pusić and the Slovenian delegation expressed satisfaction with the positive trend in foreign trade, which continued throughout the last year. They highlighted the cooperation in tourism, in view of the fact that in 2011, 1.1 million Slovenians visited Croatia.

Pusić also informed the Slovenian parliamentarians about this year's Croatia Summit, which will focus on the transfer of Croatia's experience in the post-conflict period for building a modern state and modern institutions.
