Pusić held talks with Italian Ambassador Emanuela D'Alessandro

Pusić thanked Italy for its strong support for Croatia during the length of its Euro-integration process

Pusić thanked Italy for its strong support for Croatia during the length of its Euro-integration process and the fact that Italy had been among the first to ratify Croatia’s Accession Treaty.

Pusić and D'Alessandro expressed satisfaction with the two countries excellent and friendly relations, accompanied by cooperation in numerous areas. The two officials discussed the possibilities of further development of cooperation in the Adriatic, from economic and scientific cooperation to cooperation in environmental protection.

D'Alessandro expressed satisfaction with the way the Croatian government was contributing to the preservation of the identity of the Italian minority in Croatia and the protection of their rights.

Underscoring Croatia’s commitment to assisting other countries in the region along their road to EU, Pusić said that this year’s Croatia Summit would focus on using Croatia’s accession process experiences in institutional building.

The minister brought up the persisting problem of Italian transmitters interfering in the reception of digital TV signals in Croatia. The Italian ambassador said Italian and Croatian experts were scheduled to meet the following month and discuss how to tackle the issue.

The meeting also touched on the remaining outstanding issues.
