Pusić: Good basis for cooperation with India

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić said that the double taxation avoidance treaty India and Croatia had signed was an important step in strengthening their economic cooperation

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić said that the double taxation avoidance treaty India and Croatia had signed was an important step in strengthening their economic cooperation.

“India is involved in only one investment project in Croatia in the pharmaceutical industry, but the pharmaceutical industry is one of the areas which Croatia regards as its driving force and in which India is an absolute superpower,” Pusić said.

“The present level of economic cooperation and trade does not reflect the potential for cooperation in these important sectors,” Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur told the press. “I hope this treaty will raise this cooperation to a higher level,” she added, inviting Croatian companies to attend a business forum between India and Central and Eastern European countries scheduled for end- March in New Delhi.

The treaty was signed in Zagreb by Croatian Finance Minister Slavko Linić and Preneet Kaur, during her working visit to Croatia. It is an important step in strengthening the economic cooperation between Croatia and India, one of the world's fastest growing economies and a country that is very interesting to Croatian companies.

The Indian minister also met with Parliament Speaker Josip Leko and President Ivo Josipović.
