Pusić delivered opening presentation at regional conference of Norwegian ambassadors and diplomats

Pusić said that Croatia’s foreign policy priorities included building position in the EU and regional policy. She said that the former would depend on our ability to assume responsibility for the region together with our neighbours, pointing out that a stable region was not only in Croatia’s but in the European Union’s interest as well. She added that the experience Croatia had gained in the process of EU accession, which is de facto the experience of building a state, was valuable for the countries in the region aspiring to membership. As she explained, Croatia would share the experience through partnerships and specific strategies aimed at transferring the accumulated knowledge.

A form of regional cooperation that was of special importance, said the minister, were the cross-border projects financed by the EU funds, as they bring citizens concrete, visible benefit. One of such projects that are being prepared in the “Croatian Provence”, aimed at revitalizing the Dalmatian hinterland.

As an important example of and a potential model for regional cooperation Pusić pointed out the Nordic Council, a cooperative forum of the Nordic countries’ parliaments and governments.
