(Hina) - Croatia has complied with all 17 points agreed at the recent European Commission meeting on the refugee crisis, Foreign Minister Vesna Pusić said on Thursday while visiting a winter refugee transit centre in Slavonski Brod.

"That meeting was part also of our initiative for coordination on this western Balkan route, instead of everyone fighting and competing. After the Turkish election, I expect the negotiations between the EU and Turkey to intensify so that this refugee flow is stopped there," Pusić said, adding that during the winter she expected a solution to stop the war in Syria.

"International and non-governmental organisations, the military and the police, everyone says the work conditions (at the Slavonski Brod centre) are incomparably better. The conditions are better for the refugees too. Health care is much more worked out, there is direct communication with the hospital. This is absolutely the highest standard between the Turkish-Greek border and Norway with regard to care for these people," Pusić said.

She recalled that because of its good organisation, the work of the refugee centre did not impact the everyday life of Slavonski Brod's residents, aside from the fact that hundreds of people were hired at the centre through the public works system.
