On 2 July, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs met with Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, the Prime Minister of Brazil, on his visit to Croatia. The ministers talked about the possibilities for cooperation in several areas, from business, politics, science and culture to development aid and protection of human rights.

Minister Patriota said that by joining the EU Croatia has become part of the strategic partnership between Brazil and EU Member States in the economy. „We want to cooperate with Croatia in trade, investment, shipbuilding, science and technology“, said Patriota.

Minister Pusić said that the cooperation between Croatia and Brazil has great potential, particularly after Croatia's accession to the EU. „As regards business, Minister Patriota and his delegation will have the opportunity to talk to the presidents of four Croatian shipyards today, to hear about the possibilities offered here. Brazil is a country in considerable and very impressive expansion“, said Minister Pusić, adding that she has accepted the invitation to visit Brazil.

Minister Patriota said that his country hoped to increase trade exchange with Croatia. „Brazil increased the export of agricultural produce in Croatia, but we want to increase the export of industrial goods as well. Recently, the Governor of the Federal State of Parana visited Croatia, and in September a delegation of Brazilian shipbuilders is coming. As Brazil is entering the next development stage, we are seeking partners throughout the world“, said Minister Patriota.
