President receives new head of Croatian diplomacy

President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received the new Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign and European Affairs Minister Davor Ivo Stier.

Grabar-Kitarović informed Stier about her strategic foreign policy guidelines, stemming from her constitutional powers. Special emphasis was placed on Croatia’s responsibility towards Croats living in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European path was emphasized as one of Croatia’s foreign policy priorities. Building a diplomatic-consular network that will continue to develop on principles of professionalism and be responsible in the protection and promotion of the interests of our country and its citizens is a special priority in the coming period ahead, it was said at the meeting.

The president and the foreign minister also talked about formulating Croatia’s foreign policy positions and drafting a new national security strategy that would cover all of the growing geopolitical challenges. They agreed that a new foreign and European policy strategy had to be part of our homeland and national security strategy.

For the purpose of coordinated foreign policy activities, Grabar-Kitarović and Stier agreed about modalities of future cooperation and regular exchanges of opinions.
