Deputy Minister Joško Klisović, who is accompanying Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusić, met with Chinese Commerce Assistant Minister Wang Shouwen.

The two officials talked about trade and investment relations, as well as possibilities of further cooperation, notably in food trade, ICT, tourism and electricity management. There was also talk about placing Croatian dairy products on the Chinese market. China is Croatia's seventh trade partner, but there is still a huge deficit on the Croatian side. It was agreed that the work of a combined commission for commerce and trade relations should continue and intention was expressed to organise a trade and investment conference in China similar to the one recently held in London, where Croatia would present its projects and companies.

The talks also focused on Croatia’s position within the EU, as well as possibilities of cooperation within the platform between China and the 16 countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The Chinese side, amongst other things, expressed its intention to invest in tourism, infrastructure (ports and motorways), stressing that political will exists as well as economic interest to invest in Croatia. It was also pointed out that Chinese companies are prepared to participate in public tenders as prescribed by European procedures.

Minister Pusić wrapped up the second day of her official visit to Beijing with a reception at the embassy for members of the Croatian community.
