On 16 June 2003, the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Belgrade received a written apology of the Mayor of Belgrade, Radmila Hrustanović, on account of last night’s attack on the Embassy after the waterpolo game between the representations of Croatia and Serbia-Montenegro.

“Once again we could see that a sports victory can turn into a defeat for those who discard their sense of dignity, manners, respect and, of course, self-respect”, said the Mayor of Belgrade, expressing her belief that the perpetrators, both in Belgrade and Kranj, will be deservedly punished, and that sport must be above any strife.
