Mr. Tonino Picula, the Croatian Foreign Minister, met Ms. Maria Soledad Alvear Valenzuela

Mr. Tonino Picula, the Croatian Foreign Minister, met Ms. Maria Soledad Alvear Valenzuela, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile.

During the talks of the two delegations, points of contact of the two countries in their foreign policy goals were established. The Republic of Chile and the Republic of Croatia have a significant role in their respective regions, the two Ministers confirmed, and both are important for the consolidation and reconciliation of crisis situation in the neighbouring countries. Both Ministers emphasised their multilateral orientation.

Minister Picula gave full support to the Republic of Chile in the Council of Europe and asked the Republic of Chile to support the candidature of the Republic of Croatia as a non-permanent member of the Council of Europe in 2007.

After the talks, the two Ministers signed the Agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and gave statements for the press.
