Ministry holds two-day Euro-Atlantic integration seminar

In her opening address, Pusić said there was no successful international, foreign or security policy without public support

In her opening address, Pusić said there was no successful international, foreign or security policy without public support. Speaking about Croatia’s participation in ISAF, she stated: “There are many reasons for NATO’s presence in Afghanistan, but there is one that all countries should view as crucial – are we ready to put an end to the type of behaviour that involves shooting at 14-year-old girls just because they want to go to school? This is a mindset that thinks women should be denied employment, education and any type of involvement in society. These are the attitudes and values that Croatia firmly opposes, and wherever they appear we will fight for the fundamental and minimum standards of civilization.”

Pusić also said there was “no stable house without a stable backyard”, adding that Croatia advocated the progress of the Southeast European countries towards the Euro-Atlantic integration.

The first day of the seminar saw a lecture by, amongst others, NATO Assistant Secretary-General for Public Diplomacy Kolinda Grabar Kitarović.

The seminar, organized by the ministry’s Centre of Excellence, aims to familiarize journalists from the region with the topical issues from the area of Euro-Atlantic integration, EU and NATO.
